Scrap car pickup in Irricana - a small town we still drive to

Irricana has around 1,200 people, so we are not going to pretend we have a truck stationed there. What we do have is a regular route up Highway 9 through Rocky View County, and Irricana sits right on it. If you have a car or truck to get rid of, we come out from Calgary with a flatbed, load it and pay cash up to $10,000 before we go. Towing is free and the plate is yours to keep.

The drive from our yard is about 65 kilometres, under an hour. Call 403-991-7717 between 9am and 9pm and we will book a day.

TESTIMONIALS

Irricana pickups, plainly

A small town means fewer calls, but the ones we get are usually worth the trip. Here is how it works.

Up Highway 9 past Pioneer Acres

From southeast Calgary we run Stoney Trail to Highway 9, head northeast past the Calgary city limits and turn in at Highway 567 or come straight up through Keoma. The Pioneer Acres Museum with its old tractors is just north of town, and honestly some of the vehicles we collect around here are not much younger. The town itself has wide streets and big lots, so getting a flatbed in is rarely an issue. Farm yards along Highway 9 toward Beiseker or west toward Kathyrn are gravel and usually flat, which suits us. We ask that the vehicle be reachable in a straight line for the winch; a car wedged between a bin and a shed will need to be moved first.

Irricana’s name is a blend of irrigation and canal, and the countryside around it is exactly what that suggests: flat, open and criss-crossed by ditches. That makes farm-yard access simple most of the year. The exception is late March and April, when the approaches can go soft; in a wet spring we may ask to hold off a week for a field pickup.

What we buy in the Irricana area

This is farm country with a commuter overlay, since plenty of Irricana residents drive into Airdrie or Calgary. The commuter side gives us sedans and small SUVs that have reached the end of their repair budget. The farm side gives us the good stuff: half-ton and three-quarter-ton trucks, older one-tons, and grain trucks that have been replaced and left behind the quonset. We price by weight, engine and parts, so a heavy truck earns more than a light car every time. Vehicles that have been sitting for years are fine; we bring skates and a winch and we do not need the engine to turn over.

Because the town is small, we treat an Irricana call as an opportunity to clear a property, not just a single car. If there is a second vehicle, an old truck cab or a pile of scrap steel behind the shop, mention it. We can often take more than one item on the same trip and it improves the price for everyone.

No registry in Irricana, so here is the nearest

Irricana does not have an Alberta registry agent of its own. The closest is Beiseker Registries at 312 6 Street in Beiseker, about ten minutes east on Highway 9, and Airdrie has several if you are heading that way anyway. You do not need to visit a registry before selling to us, only after, to cancel the registration or transfer the plate. What we need on the day is proof you own the vehicle, such as the registration certificate, plus your ID. We write a bill of sale with the VIN and price and give you a copy. Take the licence plate off before we load, because Alberta plates stay with the owner.

TYPES OF VEHICLES WE BUY AND REMOVE

OUR LOCATIONS

Our Irricana route also covers Beiseker, Keoma, Kathyrn, Acme and the farms along Highway 9 and Highway 567 in Rocky View County. Crossfield and Airdrie are on the way back, so pickups there can be combined.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is Irricana too small for you to bother with?

No. We already drive Highway 9 for Beiseker and the county farms, so Irricana is on the way. A single vehicle is enough to book, though it may be scheduled for a set day rather than same-day.

Where is the nearest registry office to Irricana?

Beiseker Registries on 6 Street in Beiseker, roughly ten minutes east. Take your plate and the bill of sale we give you to cancel the registration. Airdrie’s registry agents are the other option if you are heading west.

Can you take a grain truck from a farm near Irricana?

Yes. Tell us the size and whether it rolls. Some grain trucks need our heavier tow unit, which we can bring when we know in advance.

Do you need the keys?

Keys help but are not required. We winch the vehicle onto the deck whether or not it starts or steers. If the keys exist, hand them over with the car.

What if the vehicle has no ownership papers at all?

We need something showing it is yours. An expired registration certificate, an old bill of sale or an insurance document with the VIN will usually do. If there is nothing, call us and we will talk through the options.

Can you combine my pickup with my neighbour's?

Please do. Two vehicles from the same area let us book sooner and sometimes send a second truck. Give us both addresses when you call.
