What ends up on our truck in Okotoks
Okotoks is a town of about 30,000 and a large share of its working households commute north each day, so the typical scrap here is a commuter car that finally quit: Mazda3s, Corollas and Elantras with 250,000 kilometres on the clock and a repair bill higher than the car is worth. The second big category is the extra vehicle on a Foothills County acreage, an old GMC Sierra, a Jeep that was the kids’ first vehicle, a farm truck retired years ago and slowly sinking into the yard. Because the town is close to the mountains we also see plenty of Subaru Outbacks and Foresters with head-gasket failures, and every one of them has parts with buyers.
